The John L. Alford Case Library is an internationally recognised library of public sector cases and a unique resource centre for the advancement of interactive teaching. It recognises the outstanding contribution of Professor John Alford to the Australia and New Zealand School of Government. Not only has Professor Alford researched and published widely in public management, he has also been instrumental in establishing and building the case library, promoting interactive teaching methods, and developing and leading foundation teaching programs. Professor Shaun Goldfinch is the Director of the John L. Alford Case Library at ANZSOG.
The John L. Alford Case Library offers a large collection of case studies set mainly in the public sector in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. With nearly 200 cases from all levels of government, we are sure to have a case to suit your needs.
There are several ways to search for case studies. Use our simple, online search facility to refine your search by teaching topic, concept, policy area or agency type. Alternatively, use a keyword search to find the subject you are seeking. The search will bring all materials associated with the topic, including teaching notes and supplementary class material, and will show the date of the latest published version. Our cases may be stand-alone single cases, single-part cases with a brief epilogue ('what happened next') or multi-part cases where each part can be used for a teaching session. More short-story cases, which can be read in class before discussion, are being developed.
Once you have found a case that suits your needs, download the case document. It’s as simple as that.
